The Melrose School Girl Scouts Donate 55 Care Packages to Kids
The Melrose School Girl Scout Troop 1542 recently donated 55 care packages to children at Northern Westchester Hospital. When the girls were interested in doing a charitable project that involved children, their troop leader, Jane Justo, contacted the Director of Volunteer Services at Northern Westchester Hospital for ideas.
Ms. Meuntener suggested care packages for children who have to visit the emergency room, or are there with family members for treatment. These hospital visits can sometimes last for hours, and the children often have nothing to help pass the time.
Each girl in troop 1542 donated about $20.00 of their own money, and they purchased items to make all 55 care packages. The packages were donated by Keely Chisholm, Jennifer Foran, Laura Griffee, Taylor Jendras, Valerie Justo, Sophia Ortiz and Sarina Perera.
